With the arrival of Werewolf by Night on Disney+, Elsa Bloodstone and the werewolf have both arrived in Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. Both appear only at night. Both have appeared only on nights that Oogie Boogie Bash isn’t being held. Both are pretty awesome to see!
Last night I made my way into Disney California Adventure for a few hours and happened upon Elsa Bloodstone. I had bumped into her before and took pictures of her where she was located. This was by the exit of Avengers Campus to Cars Land. It looked pretty cool but I had wondered if there could be a better place to take her picture that would bring her story, as seen in the special, to life a little bit more. Last night I was given this chance.
Elsa made her way over to the area by the Ancient Sanctum where Doctor Strange can often be found showing off his mastery of the Mystic Arts. There the light had some interesting things going on, as did the architecture. It reminded me more of what is seen in Werewolf by Night. We took a few photos of her and then I questioned if there was something she was looking for. At this point, she realized there was and began peering around the corner of the wall… presumably looking for monsters… or something else! While she was doing that, I captured the following picture. This is what it looked like when I snapped the shot, other than I threw on a logo.
Once home, I pulled the photo into Photoshop. There, I highlighted the Bloodstone and then copied it to its own layer. Once that was done, I desaturated the layer to make it black and white. However, the black and white didn’t feel quite right so I started playing with the temperature. I opened a photo from the special to try and mimic the look and feel of Werewolf by Night. I noticed there was a hint of warmth to it that added just a tiny bit of yellow it seemed, as opposed to being a cooler blue, black and white. The result was the following photo that I’m really quite pleased with!
I’m really pleased with how the photo turned out. I liked the original shot but recreating the look and feel of the Marvel Special on Disney+ brought it to life even more! I do have more photos of Elsa Bloodstone, and also the werewolf, from their time at Avengers Campus. I wouldn’t mind taking more! Keep your eyes open on my Instagram to see them if/when they show up!
